Vivocell Biosolutions is based in Switzerland aiming at enlarging the source of stem cells by establishing allogeneic umbilical cord blood (UCB) banks. The current operating units are in Graz, Austria and Langenfeld near Düsseldorf, Germany, with state-of-the-art laboratories and storage facilities licensed according to national tissue safety laws.
Vivocell laboratories process cord blood in compliance with cGMPs and national standards.
In 2001 Vivocell, formerly Lifecord, was the first Austrian company that achieved a pharmaceutical law certificate for the collection, processing and banking of stem cells from umbilical cord blood.
In addition to the processing and banking facilities, a fully equipped genetics department for the required tissue typing (HLA typing) is established in Graz. Since 2007 umbilical cord blood also from all over Germany can be processed and stored in Langenfeld near Düsseldorf. Know-how and consistent quality controls meeting the high regulatory demands of the authorities offer best possible manufacturing conditions and safety for the valuable stem cell preparation.
"STEM CELLS: FROM BENCH-TO-BEDSIDE" - The Success of Cord Blood
On September 10th and 11th 2010 worldwide leading scientists in the field of cord blood stem cells came to Gmunden (Austria) to participate in the conference "Stem Cells: From bench to bedside. The success of cord blood". The conference was organized by Vivocell and the Institute for Stem Cell Biology Zurich .
